Cyclide Earrings

Description

This one-of-a-kind pair differs from our Celeste earrings in three minor respects: They are larger, 1 inch (25mm) in size rather than 3/4 (20mm), they have nine bands instead of seven, and both rings have the same chirality.
The mathematics of stereographic projection retrieves these banded tori from the unit sphere in four-space. The bands’ edges are images of great circles, any two linked. The tori themselves are gently tilted in four-space, giving their solid shadows in three-space an enticing asymmetry. More about the math behind this design is explained in a shop blog post.
These earrings are 3D printed from 18K gold-plated brass, polished to a mirror-like finish on their outer surface, and hand-fitted with 14K gold-filled fishhook ear wires.
